To make your website load, your domain must point to the correct hosting account.
There are two common ways to do this:
- Update the domain’s nameservers.
- Update DNS records manually.
Option 1: Change nameservers
If your hosting provider gave you nameservers, update your domain to use them.
Example: ns1.examplehost.com and ns2.examplehost.com.
Once nameservers are updated, DNS propagation can take a few hours and sometimes up to 24–48 hours.
Option 2: Update DNS records
If you want to keep your current DNS provider, update your DNS records instead.
- A Record: points your domain to your website server IP.
- CNAME: points one hostname to another hostname.
- MX Record: controls email delivery.
- TXT Record: used for verification and email security.
