.SX Domain Guide

How to Register a .SX Domain

A step-by-step guide to getting your own .SX domain, the country-code domain of Sint Maarten, from search to a live website.

Before you start

Anyone can register a .SX domain. You do not need to live in Sint Maarten or own a local company, so the steps below work the same for a beach bar in Philipsburg, a startup in Amsterdam or a creator in New York.

You need three things:

  • A name idea (and a couple of backups in case your first choice is taken).
  • Your contact details: name, address, email and phone number for the domain owner.
  • A way to pay online.

Step 1: Pick a good .SX name

A .SX name can be 3 to 63 characters long and may use letters, numbers and hyphens. It cannot start or end with a hyphen. A few tips:

  • Keep it short. Short names are easier to say, type and remember, and the .SX ending is only two letters, which helps.
  • Use your brand name if you have one. yourbusiness.sx tells visitors exactly who you are and where you are.
  • Avoid hyphens and numbers unless they are part of your brand. They are easy to forget when people hear your name.
  • Say it out loud. If you have to spell it every time, look for something simpler.

Step 2: Check availability

Go to our .SX domain registration page and type the name into the search box. We check the name with the .SX registry straight away. If it is taken, try a variation: add your town, your trade or a short word like get, my or shop.

Step 3: Choose how long to register it

You can register a .SX domain for 1 to 10 years. A longer term means fewer renewals to remember and protects your name for longer. Whatever you choose, you can turn on auto-renew in your client area so the domain never lapses by accident.

Step 4: Add extras if you need them

At checkout you can add web hosting, email or an SSL certificate. You do not have to: a domain works on its own, and you can add hosting or point the domain somewhere else later.

Free WHOIS privacy: every .SX domain registered with AnyKey SX is set to private at the registry at no extra cost, so you do not need to buy a privacy add-on.

Step 5: Enter your details and pay

Create your AnyKey account (or log in) and check the contact details. The registrant is the legal owner of the domain, so use the real name of the person or business that should own it. Then pay securely online.

Step 6: Your domain is registered

As soon as your payment clears, the domain is created at the .SX registry in your name. You will see it in your client area, where you can manage nameservers, contacts, renewals and auto-renew.

Step 7: Put it to work

Now connect your domain to a website and email. If you host with AnyKey SX, this is set up for you. If you use another host or website builder, follow our guide on pointing a .SX domain to your website.

How much does it cost?

Until October 31, 2026, a new one-year .SX registration is $22.75 USD for the first year. After that, registration is $30.00 USD per year. Renewals are $24.00 USD per year. Prices exclude applicable tax; see the .SX domain pricing for current details.
